[ PMT#44: Mohlao ]

Mohlao - PMT#44 We Lose

Samuel van Dijk is a 19 year old student born in Amsterdam and currently living in Leeuwarden. At a young age he moved into a small town in the north of Friesland, Netherlands where he grew up playing a few instruments like the trumpet and flute. While having a very musical background from his father (Andrew McKenzie, Hafler Trio) he discovered at a very young age the very deep sounds of Murcof, Vladislav Delay and Drexciya. After hearing this deep and highly emotional music, he found his way exploring the Berlin Basic Channel and Chain Reaction label. 2 years of studying this sound and her atmospheres, dub techno also had become one of his most infuencal and his most listened music ever. After experimenting 3 years with Reason, Ableton Live and different computer music technologies, he started dj’ing in Repelsteeltje. After a year of exploring sounds and waveforms live, he started to express himself more and more trough music. Nowadays he ‘s busy finding interesting music labels and music distributions to release his music. Already big support from Conforce, Creative Motions and Meanwhile. Listening to Mohlao is pretend to be a mixture between E.R.P, Convextion and old skool electro combined with heavy basslines and highly atmospheric sounds. Dropsonde is a moniker for his dub techno work mostly inspired by dub techno artist such as Deepchord, Quantec and Basic Channel. All inspired on the deeper side of music and life itself.
